Never Give Up Hope!

Shared by Katherine “Cass” Brown Capel, AIM Director

Cass Brown CapelI was a “Taco Bell Queen” and “Diet Coke Drunk” before being diagnosed with estrogen negative stage II ductal carcinoma breast cancer in 1987 at age 32.  A friend recommended I talk to a woman named Julia Braddock.  Julia had gone through the Gerson juicing program and was cancer-free without undergoing chemotherapy. When I finally reached Julia, she told me about a barley grass juice powder that had drastically reduced her juicing because of the incredible convenience it offered. I took it for a few months, but I didn’t see Julia until I returned some AIM nutritional tapes to her four years later.

When I saw Julia again, I didn’t recognize her—she had lost 10 years!  I said, “Your skin is so beautiful.” She said, “You know, barley juice retards your aging.” I said, “No, it reverses it!”  I was 36 at the time and thought, if barley juice does that for your skin, I’m in.  Sure enough, people started giving me compliments on my skin and complexion, asking me what I was doing and so I started referring them to Julia. After several months, Julia called and said, “You need to be a Member so you can win contests and earn commissions.”  So, I joined AIM and began holding Monday “koffee klatsches” so people could ask questions.

The Hope

With my cancer diagnosis in 1987, I was strongly admonished against ever having children. This was repeated by my radiation oncologist at my last appointment in 1993. She cautioned me not to have children unless I was willing to have someone else raise my child, since my cancer was aggressive.  So I grieved the loss of not being able to have children.  But as I facilitated breast cancer groups in the following years, I watched as the tide of medical opinion gradually became more favorable toward premenopausal breast cancer patients having children.

John and I saw the first fertility specialist in 1998, and were told there was virtually no chance.  Our next appointment was in January 1999 with one of the best fertility doctors in the region. He was RUTHLESS. He said that at our ages that there was less than a 4% chance of spontaneous conception, and a 20% chance the child would have Down syndrome. He asked incredulously, why would I want to mess that up as a 12-year cancer survivor?

His words stung me. I walked out of his office with a resolve that I had never experienced before in my life. Any ambivalence I’d had about having children vanished. I felt a warmth, almost a fire, traveling up my spine into my heart.

Within a month, I was pregnant.  On November 11, 1999, we were blessed with Ariana, weighing 11 pounds, 3 ounces and measuring 22 inches.  It was a natural birth and she was born without anesthesia.

As a baby, Ariana would lick the barley powder off of her high-chair table top.  Last spring she finished her junior year with all A’s and worked as a trainer at a horse ranch the past summer. She is a diligent knitter in the winter, making cable-knit sweaters and wool socks for her friends.

Why was I able to stay cancer-free and and have a healthy baby when all the experts said it wasn’t possible?  I cleaned up my diet.  I took BarleyLife.  I used Renewed Balance during my pregnancy up until the eighth month, which is also good for your thyroid. There are other possible reasons, but one thing is for sure: I’ll never be without my AIM BarleyLife.

AIM Keeps Me In the Game

Shared by Blake Thompson, son of Craig and Kristi Thompson, AIM Directors

AIM products have been a part of my life from an early age. I have been taking BarleyLife daily for as long as I can remember.

Using AIM products daily has helped me live a healthy lifestyle, but AIM’s salubrious effects have been most prevalent in my athletic career.

I started playing lacrosse in grade 5, and by freshman year of high school, I knew I wanted to play lacrosse in college as well.

In my first year of high school, I began taking Proancynol 2000, Frame Essentials and Peak Endurance in addition to BarleyLife. Using these products has greatly improved my availability in lacrosse. Today, I play Division 2 lacrosse at North Greenville University in Tigerville, South Carolina.

Throughout my high school and current college lacrosse career, I have played or started in every single lacrosse game. During this period of time, there have been multiple occasions when I was either ill or injured to the point when I thought there was absolutely no chance I would be able to compete in the upcoming game. However, with the power of Proancynol 2000 for boosting the immune system and the recovering power of Frame Essentials for muscles and joints, I was always well enough to play come game time.

During games and workouts, Peak Endurance gives me the fuel to perform at a high level for the entire duration of physically demanding two-hour practices and workouts six days out of the week.

All in all, AIM products have helped me to not just compete at the collegiate level in athletics, but also to live a happy lifestyle where I never have to worry about my health inhibiting me from doing the activities I love to do.

No Medications Needed at Age 87

Shared by Kathryne K. Hamill, AIM Group Builder

KathryneH

I became a Member of The AIM Companies™ in October 1999. I am eighty-seven years old and have been enjoying AIM’s green barley juice, now called BarleyLife, all these years and am still drinking it to this day.

I can honestly say I have not had a headache since 1999. I go to a doctor every four months for a physical, and I recently had lab work done.  All of my lab results were within the normal range.

I take no medication, whatsoever. I eat natural foods, and when I started with BarleyLife, I weighed 159 pounds. I have never been on a diet, and today I weigh 124 pounds. I eat anything I want, but it’s all natural foods. I eat a nice bowl of ice cream every day, and all the time I’ve been doing this, my weight has been adjusting to my present weight.

I worked at an electric company in customer service until 2008 and retired at the age of seventy-seven, so I had tenure after forty-six years. I feel grand; I feel wonderful; I live alone now. I do all my housework and yard work with a domestic assistant. I love to travel and stay active in my community and church. In 2015, I was nominated as Miss Congeniality by my peers in the Miss North Carolina Senior Pageant. Currently, I’m taking computer lessons. I don’t have a pain in my body, and I just thank God that He led me to BarleyLife.

Healthy, Happy and Very Active

Shared by Whitey Johnson, AIM Group Builder

I was introduced to AIM’s barley grass powder by Carolyn and Jim Kling, Chairman’s Club Directors. They told me that it was quickly assimilated by the body. At that time, I was taking a bunch of vitamins and minerals, but I didn’t feel well. Right away these supplemental greens made a difference, and I felt better. It wasn’t an instant high; I just felt better. So I really got excited about it. That was about eighteen years ago now. It started out as a supplement. Now it’s an investment.

Before being introduced to AIM, my health wasn’t good. Our family had a history of disease. Dad died early of cancer, mom had Parkinson’s and there was diabetes and a whole bunch of other issues too. So I wasn’t doing well at all. I ate and drank all the bad stuff. My wife Brenita and I started changing our diets. If you put the right fuel in your body, you start feeling a healthy difference.

Then I found out about the Garden Trio. I take it in the morning, followed by two more servings of BarleyLife during the day. It helps with everything. I also learned about Herbal Fiberblend: it cleans out the plumbing so that nutrients can get through the intestinal wall. That stuff is really amazing.

I also take Proancynol 2000, CellSparc 360, GinkgoSense, ReAssure SP and AIMega daily.

As for my career, I started in construction when I was seventeen and worked as a general contractor building custom and high-end homes. Anyway, I began having a little problem with my memory. In carpentry and construction, you have got to remember numbers. I didn’t want to write them down, but I was having trouble remembering them well in my head.

GinkgoSense made a big difference. It started clearing things up in my head. My memory just kind of improved and excelled. It even helps when you’re driving. If your memory is working well, it helps with everything.

I started on ReAssure SP because I had an issue there, and it really helped me. All my tests are good and no prostate cancer.

So I’m healthy, happy and very active at the age of eighty-seven. You can better help your community and family if you have good health. You can function better, and our goal is to keep improving. By the way, we are very pleased with AIM’s service as the products get to us very quickly. We’re so thankful for The AIM Companies™.

Alex Garb Competes in China

On August 28, 2017, AIM-Sponsored Athlete Alex Garb boarded a direct flight to Nanjing, China, where the 2017 Roller Games were being held. This second opportunity to play in a world championship for Team Canada was uniquely different for Alex. Her husband, Matthew, who plays on the men’s team, was seated next to her on the plane. Alex and Matthew were married in May, the same month that she was offered a goalie position on the women’s inline hockey team.

It was also the first time Alex traveled to Asia, and the contrasts added a bit of sensory overload. “It was organized chaos,” Alex stated, “China is fast paced, there’s so much traffic and a lot of people everywhere. The food was different … lots of dishes I wasn’t used to. I ate mostly at the hotel buffet.”

Powered by Nutrition That Works!

As for supplemental food, Alex came well prepared to stay healthy and perform optimally in the net. For the trip, she packed a lot of AIM nutrition, including BarleyLife, AIMega, fit ’n fiber (which has become one of her favorites), FloraFood, PrepZymes, Peak Endurance, Proancynol 2000 and Red Rush. “I took the beet juice right after arriving to help me stay up and avoid jet lag,” Alex said. “I also took it before I played. The air quality was so bad that it was hard to breathe. Red Rush helped me get more oxygen.”

“Honestly, without the AIM products I wouldn’t have been as healthy as I was while on this trip. So many people got sick,” Alex explained. “But I had products like BarleyLife and ProPeas to snack on and energize whenever I was hungry or tired, so I could bounce back easily.”

The Results

Team Canada finished in third place, taking home the bronze medal. During the competition, Alex was the backup goaltender, playing in two and a half games that her team won.

“It was hard to watch the USA beat us in the semifinal and go on to win gold,” Alex admitted. “Same for not playing in the bronze medal game that we won against the Czech team. I’d say not playing those big games was really frustrating and made me eager to be the difference maker once I get the chance to start. The coaching staff really encouraged me, saying that my time will come soon. And I’m so grateful that AIM is sponsoring me and providing the nutrition that is helping me to reach my goals.”

AIM Changed My Life

Shared by Sandy Berry, Group Builder in Tarlton, South Africa

In 2017, I listened to an AIM presentation from Royal Emerald Director Madaleine Helm that addressed a number of health issues. My own included osteoporosis, osteoarthritis and anemia along with hot flashes that disappeared only five days after I started taking BarleyLife and using Renewed Balance.

Shortly afterward, I found out that my seven-year-old daughter, Hayley, had
attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Having her tested for food sensitivities revealed she had celiac disease as well. I put her on a variety of AIM products, including BarleyLife Xtra, CoCoa LeafGreens and FloraFood. As for changing her diet, I removed anything that contained gluten. For good measure, we are busy eliminating dairy as well.

Two months later, my twenty-six-year-old daughter, Tarryn, was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I gave her BarleyLife, Herbal Fiberblend, Frame Essentials and Peak Endurance as well as Renewed Balance. These products have helped her to
feel better.

As for Hayley, seven months of being on the AIM products has made a huge improvement in her well-being. I can almost say she is a different child. She’s not so aggressive anymore. And she falls asleep within fifteen minutes instead of the three hours it used to take. I really notice that her concentration is much better. Overall, Hayley is just a far more pleasant little girl. Giving her AIM products is of utmost importance to me because I believe she’s getting the best support available.

To share what AIM products mean to me and my family, I decided to study AIM’s online courses to learn more about them and how the company works. You cannot promote AIM products if you have no idea what they can do for you or how the body works. I graduated from the AIM Academy in April, so now I have a better understanding of how the body needs AIM nutrition to function optimally.

I hope that more people will educate themselves and help give other people the best possible health solutions. I will always try to increase my own knowledge so that I can give the best of myself to everyone I meet. If I can help just one person, I’ll feel I have accomplished my goal in life. This is why I now sell AIM products to all who want to better their health.

Thank you to Madaleine Helm and The AIM Companies™ for changing my life. I am truly blessed.

Preparation for a Cycling World Record

Sixty-year-old Wimpie van der Merwe,
Red Rush Athlete and AIM Preferred Member sets his sights on The Hour

My name is Wimpie van der Merwe, proudly South African and sixty years old. I recently attempted the master’s world record for the Hour. It’s the most prestigious record in cycling, attempting to ride the furthest distance in 60 minutes.

The Hour is even more valued than a Tour de France victory. Only the best in cycling have ever held this record. For most, it’s a career-ending effort. Not only is the Hour so physically demanding, it is so emotionally fulfilling that there is hardly any worthwhile goal to fulfill after achieving it.

An Impressive Cycling Career

During my cycling career, I have broken many records: 12 world, 18 African and 18 South African, setting records on both sides of the spectrum with distances from 200 meters to 1,000 kilometers. Presently, I still hold records: 12 South African, 11 African and 1 world, making me one of the most accomplished riders in the history of cycling.

Remaining very active on the international scene, I competed in the 1,400 km ultra-endurance London Edinburgh London (LEL) race in the first few days of August 2017. All of these achievements have made me one of the most knowledgeable cyclists when it comes to preparation of the mind and body for speed and endurance. And I’m willing to share some of these principles

The Science of Cycling Endurance

At the outset, I had to become my own scientist, learning through experimentation and making my own mistakes. There are no scientists who have been there to tell me what to do. In fact, scientists study and follow sportsmen like me. And at this level of competition, I had to accept that there is no manual to follow.

Mentally, someone who wants to do what I do should have a single-minded purpose, not accept “no” for an answer, have an innate desire to test the limits, never be satisfied with the status quo, be persistent and focused, make friends with pain and discomfort, be willing to sacrifice more than the rest of the competition, understand that limitations are man-made and that “impossible” is a silly word.

Most of the time it is easier to know what to do than to do what you know because it costs discipline and sacrifice to put knowledge into action and reach the pinnacle of
success. To be the best in your sport, there is no shortcut. So if you want to ruin your life and reputation, you can follow in the footsteps of Lance Armstrong.

Building a Foundation for Success

The basics of sport are the same as in building a house: to have a roof, you need to have walls and a foundation. The foundation of any success lies in the preparation phase, sometimes a multi-year period. Money cannot buy it. You cannot borrow it. You cannot replace it with a pill. Stamina, or mileage, the slow conditioning, muscle and body chemistry development phase is the primary part of any preparation.

About 60 percent of your time spent in preparing and nurturing stamina will be below an effort of a heart rate zone of 2-2.5 millimoles per litre (mMol) lactate. What follows is the power phase. About 30 percent of your time is spent at a corresponding effort of up to 4 mMol lactate. This is an effort that starts distinguishing the men from the boys.

The Hour record is done at an intensity as close as possible to the 4 mMol level. This is the “pay-as-you-go” level. The art of the Hour record is to be able to keep your effort exactly on this level. It can be explained as follows: If you go one beat faster, you are in oxygen debt and have to slow down, paying interest for the effort that was too hard. If you go one beat slower, it is ground you lost and can never make up again.

The final 10 percent of your time spent in preparation is in the zone above 4 mMol lactate. This is the red zone, the roof of your building. This is where strength manifests, lactic acid tolerance is developed and, at the same time, the most physical and mental damage occurs. It is the reason why you spend the least of your time here. It is quality time. It is the zone of pain and discomfort. It is the zone where your character is reflected. This is the zone that everyone subconsciously wants to avoid because fatigue makes cowards of us all. This is the top of the pyramid and as we all know, the higher the pyramid, the broader its base should be (stamina).

The Legal Edge: AIM Red Rush

Red Rush has proven itself so beneficial for these two latter zones because it delays the onset of fatigue. For the same workload to reach maximal heart rate, you can now last at least 16 percent longer. Because it enables the body to work more efficiently with fat as a source of energy, it lowers lactate levels at the same workload than before.

I drink one Red Rush daily to top up my nitrate levels and two before a major workout or competition to help me last longer and give me the legal edge to shatter human limitations they call world records.
