AIM Nutrition Changed My Life

Back in 2001, after my daughter, Jordan, was born, I felt very poorly. I had a number of health issues: fatigue, headaches, aching joints, and I was overweight. At that point in time, I wasn’t a personal trainer yet, but I began a wellness journey that would change my life for the better and allow me to help others do the same.

The Journey

I managed to go from size 14 to 2, but, honestly, I didn’t do it in a healthy way. I wish I had had the knowledge that I have now so that I wouldn’t have taxed my body as hard as I did. I would have been able to maintain my weight in a healthy way.

During my wellness journey, I got into personal training and opened my own studio. However, the stress of starting a business and raising a daughter caught up with me. I regularly worked 12-hour days, and I was getting sick a lot and taking antibiotics probably four times a year.

Discovering AIM

Six years ago, I met Star Sapphire Director Leré Robinson, who mentored me on the use of AIM products. I started on a committed regimen of the Garden Trio, FloraFood, AIMega, Composure and Renewed Balance body cream. Within three months, I was feeling completely renewed, capable and energetic.

I credit AIM nutrition with these positive changes because I didn’t do anything else that was different. As a personal trainer, I already exercised and ate well, so it was the AIM products that really changed my life.

That’s when I started telling all of my clients about AIM, recommending products not only for losing weight but for improving all kinds of body functions. Those who come to my studio are generally middle-aged woman, many of whom have chronic pain, don’t sleep well, have poor digestive function and hormonal imbalance. Many want to improve their mobility, or what I call the “feel good” factor.

In addition to the exercise component to enhance mobility, I use AIM products to improve their wellness on an intracellular level. Addressing external factors of wellness, such as exercise (mild to moderate), sufficient sleep, sun exposure, etc., and the internal factors of eating well and supplementing with AIM products has helped a lot of my clients to get stellar results. They are able to look better, move better, feel better and be better from the inside out.

AIMing for Weight Loss

Most of my clients have weight loss goals. Last year, I ran a six-week weight-loss challenge. I had them replace their highest calorie meal of the day with a ProPeas shake. The average weight loss was eight pounds.

ProPeas and fit ’n fiber are mostly used for meal re­placements, having developed a couple of recipes that include adding kale or spinach and a teaspoon of healthy oil. Almost all of my clients also use Peak Endurance for supplemental energy.

The combination of AIM products and functional exercise—movement that helps you age well—is a sustain­able, balanced approach to weight loss and wellness, which I believe is healthiest after experiencing my own health journey and 14 years as a personal trainer.
At the same time, there are definitely unhealthy, unsustainable ways to lose weight. Because of my own history, I don’t encourage extreme exercise, which is not helpful and likely harmful for your body in the long run.

As men and women age, exercise can actually become counter-productive very quickly. Exercise naturally creates inflammation in the body. And if you’re an older person, overweight, have health issues, have been on a lot of meds or you haven’t moved well in a long time, then you’re already walking around with a lot of chronic, low-grade inflammation.

Increasing inflammation with the wrong kind of exercise is only going to make matters worse. And while we’re on the subject, reducing inflammation with AIM whole-food concentrates such as BarleyLife is an ideal approach to wellness. And as for exercise, you just have to move smart.

I don’t even like to use the word exercise; I just think movement. The right kind makes everything better; the wrong kind makes everything worse. Keep moving in the right way that makes you feel better and your life better.

Everything that has transpired in the 10½ years that I’ve owned Elite Personal Training has come out of my own wellness journey, just like my use of the AIM products. I will continue to promote them in my studio because they have changed my life and have been changing the lives of my clients.

Your AIM Business Is Important

Sometimes our goals seem to fall by the wayside. I often think it’s because we get so caught up with the urgent that we neglect the important.

Think of something you should be doing that is important. It could be exercising or losing weight. But such important things are not really urgent. And urgent, daily tasks and interruptions may be the cause of neglecting important things such as your AIM business.

Follow-up?

We have all heard about the value of follow-up. Everybody keeps talking about how important it is, but do we believe it? And if we believe it, are we doing it? Or is the urgent causing us to neglect the important?

Sometimes the urgent might be answering a telephone call and chatting with a friend. The important might be investing some time in your AIM business because if you put off following up long enough, eventually you may not have much of a downline.

AIM Chairman’s Club Director Carolyn Kling once sent me a copy of her goal setting sheet. One objective that I found particularly helpful was, “Try to do something AIM-related every day.” Examples might be calling a downline Member, listening to a podcast, registering for a webinar, studying and highlighting the important parts of a datasheet, sending information by post or email, working on designing an ad or writing your own testimonial. If you do a little bit every day, I think it tends to keep your heart and mind more open. And when you do get an opportunity to share, you’ll be ready for it.

Getting Started

A fine way to follow up is to call some of your top-producing downline Members and ask, “Could we do a meeting?” The truth is that I’m not very proud of some of my first meetings, but you do improve if you keep trying. We all have to start somewhere.

It reminds me of when I used to be a schoolteacher. When my students had to do some creative writing, they would ask me how to get started. And when I asked them if they knew the best way to get started, they eagerly anticipated some wonderful tip from me. But I’d say, “Just get started.”

And when people say they can’t get motivated, I think of some words from John Maxwell’s book, The Fifteen Invaluable Laws of Growth: “Motivation is not going to strike you like lightning … Motivation is like love and happiness. It’s a by-product. When you’re actively engaged in doing something, it sneaks up and zaps you when you least expect it … So act. Whatever it is you know you should do, do it.”

Most people who have been successful have found this to be true. Don’t let the seemingly urgent stop you from “doing” what is important for your AIM business.

It’s Wild: Bear Paw Garlic

Many years ago, I was introduced to a product from The AIM Companies™ called Bear Paw Garlic. I had heard of the bulb kind many times before, but Bear Paw was very different.

I learned that Bear Paw’s garlic grows wild in Europe’s mountainous areas and that when bears come out of hibernation in the spring, they gorge on this alpine garlic. I also learned Bear Paw Garlic was super special, being a leaf and having qualities and properties that bulb garlic doesn’t, such as being much higher in adenosine and odorless on the breath.

As I continued to do research, I began using Bear Paw Garlic, not knowing that it would come in very handy for something as common as a sore throat. The soreness in my throat would go away seemingly overnight after taking it.

It worked on our grandkids as well. But how do you get children to swallow capsules? Well, we found a simple way to them give Bear Paw Garlic: sprinkle the contents of one capsule on some apple sauce. Enzymes have really interested me for the last few years. I have a thick book that emphasizes their importance: the more enzymes, the more life. They are like workers in our bodies. Two Miracles

When I was a teenager, my mother, Janet Pauly, was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and given a limited time to live. Even though she had gone for several different treatments at MD Anderson in Houston, the premier cancer hospital in the country, her doctor told her that he had nothing left to offer her. It was devastating for all of us.

Then a friend of hers sent an envelope with some green powder in it. My mother was very skeptical but had no other options. She tried the sample of BarleyLife and then ordered some. Within four months, all of her tumors were gone.

Around that same time, I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, an inflammatory bowel disease that affects the lining of the colon. I was frequently in severe pain accompanied by bleeding and had to take steroids and other medications. My parents were told that within 10 years, I would have to have my colon removed. I took BarleyLife and have been doing so ever since. I can proudly report that I have been symptom-free of ulcerative colitis for 34 years. This just doesn’t happen.
