Getting a Nutritional Education

Late August or early September is the time associated with going back to school. Education time. Beyond what is learned from kindergarten through college, parents have the ability to educate their children with an important, long-life lesson: the value of wholesome nutrition. It’s significant because there’s a media marketplace—TV, the internet, smart phones—that sells young people a poor-nutrition road to bad health: fast foods, soft drinks, processed snacks, to name just a few.

Unwholesome Advertising

It’s still an eye-opener to look back at the early days of advertising, when doctors promoted one cigarette brand over another. Have we really come that far since then? Possibly not, when you consider the marketing of so-called food and beverages that study after study show the likelihood for promoting the onset of diseases, such as obesity and diabetes1 as well as cancer2.

Such advertising is still legal and very profitable . . . just not ethical if a company truly cares about the long-term health of consumers and their children. In 2013, Fast Food Facts reported that children and teens remained key audiences by the fast food industry, which spent $4.6 billion to advertise mostly unhealthy products3. Even under all of the marketing pressure, parents can step in and make a difference.

Taste Training

Getting your kids to eat well is a worthwhile task. As a parent, you have the power of providing nutrition, so make choices that create good food habits. For example, introducing a variety of vegetables to young children and “marketing” them in a fun way can shape their taste for healthy foods4.

Introducing AIM nutrition to your children gives them a supplemental advantage for a long, healthy lifetime. Kids who crave a glass of BarleyLife or CoCoa LeafGreens instead of a bag of potato chips nurture their physical and mental well-being.

Chairman’s Club Director Sandy Combs has been such an educator since becoming an AIM Member in 1985. Sandy and her husband, Wayne, have six children, 21 grandkids and “a bunch of great-grandkids.” AIM nutrition has been a big part of their lives and the lives touched by Sandy’s help.

“Moms put BarleyLife into baby bottles to help children stay satisfied longer,” Sandy explained. “As my grandkids grew, AIM products entered into the school sports scene, fueling winning positions in baseball, softball, football and cheerleading. Championship competitions were joined with AIM’s champion products.”

Giving children a nutritional education helps them to graduate with a high degree of good health in life.

Three Generations Using the AIM Products

AIM Group Builder Wendy Hewett lives in Australia. She became a Member in 2003 after picking up a copy of Dr. Hagiwara’s book in a local store. Wendy had always been interested in health, so she was constantly on the lookout for products to improve her own health and that of her children.

The health benefits of barley grass grabbed her attention, especially the growth factor, so she immediately started taking AIM’s green barley powder along with giving it to two of her three teenage children. The third teen was living away from home at a boarding school but would eventually enjoy AIM nutrition as well.

Through Wendy’s efforts, she won a prize to an AIM conference held in Cronulla, Sydney. And as another way to share AIM goodness with her family, Wendy brought along her daughter, Raven, who loved taking the Garden Trio for breakfast.

Today, Wendy continues to work night shifts and attributes her good health to the daily intake of BarleyLife, LeafGreens, Cocoa LeafGreens, Herbal Fiberblend and ProPeas along with rubbing Mag-nificence magnesium lotion all over her body. Interestingly, after using Mag-nificence lotion, she massages the excess on her hands through her hair and leaves it in. She believes it’s the shea butter in the lotion that makes her hair feel extremely soft.

Wendy’s mother thought that once her grandchildren were old enough, they would stop taking the AIM products. But little did she realize that not only would they continue on this healthy path but also start their own children on the products.

In fact, Wendy’s AIM nutritional intake has translated into a “like mother, like daughter” situation. Raven now shares her mother’s daily products as well as fit ’n fiber with her three children and her partner, encouraging them to use the products diligently. The AIM products now have a generational following with Wendy, her three children and four grandchildren, all powering ahead today.

Barley Baby

The nutrition a woman chooses for her herself can have a profound effect on both her health and that of her children. Tanya van der Westhuizen, AIM Director, knows this to be true after experiencing two completely different pregnancies: before and after AIM Nutrition that Works.

After her first child was born prematurely, Tanya found herself constipated, depressed and overweight, while still craving unhealthy food. “I had no idea of what was going on with my hormonal system and body,” she admitted. “And I did not know anything about nutrition or the impact it could have on the development of a baby.”

The health of her firstborn was compromised by a weak immune system. Like Tanya, her little boy suffered from a bad skin condition and had food issues. Every time new teeth came in, he would get sick. “I wish somebody had told me about BarleyLife earlier,” Tanya stated, whose poor health continued, and she suffered two miscarriages.

After a few years of feeling that every system in her body was dysfunctional, Tanya was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s disease, an autoimmune disorder that causes the immune system to attack and kill thyroid cells, creating chronic inflammation in the thyroid gland and affecting hormonal balance. And a blood test revealed that she was extremely sensitive to milk, eggs and chicken.

Everything Changes

A few years later, lifestyle adjustments, including a better diet and AIM supplements, began changing everything for the better. “I basically prepared my body for two years before getting pregnant again,” Tanya said. “I took the Garden Trio, AIMega and Herbal Fiberblend and used Renewed Balance.” By 2016, Tanya was in good health and pregnant.

“I am living proof of how nutrition—more fruit and vegetables and avoiding inflammatory foods—changed my body,” Tanya exclaimed. After giving a full-term birth to a healthy baby girl, Tanya did not struggle with excessive weight gain, sore ankles, bad skin, water retention or postnatal depression. And her baby was developing so well that they called her the Barley Baby, who has no health issues and sleeps well. “I firmly believe the excellent nutrition achieved by taking BarleyLife was a major contribution.”

“We are still using AIM products happily and successfully,” Tanya added, “proof that AIM products help improve your family’s health.

Education with a Nutritional Advantage

Healthy lunches, snack foods and beverages can make a difference in the physical and mental performance of students. That’s why many schools are making changes as to what is available in school cafeterias and vending machines.

A 2017 paper entitled “School Lunch Quality and Academic Performance” shows schools that contract with vendors providing healthy school lunches have a student population that scores higher on achievement tests. Such results support the long-argued medical and nutrition literature that a healthy diet can improve cognitive function.

Student services at the University of British Columbia easily lay out the physical and mental benefits of eating well:

  • More energy
  • Consistent energy levels throughout the day
  • Feel full longer
  • Healthy weight management
  • Stronger bones and muscles
  • Improved immune system
  • Improved ability to focus on tasks like studying and writing

But let’s face it, no matter what their age, most students will not eat well consistently. That is where moms and dads can step in and give their children of all ages an education with the nutritional advantage of AIM supplements.

Introducing AIM products into the lives of children can make a huge difference in their physical health and academic performance throughout their schooling. The following are just a few of many healthy choices in the AIM lineup.

Essential Fatty Acids

Omega-3 is one of two essential fatty acids (EFAs) that must come from dietary intake because the human body cannot produce them. The second is omega-6, which often comes from unhealthy food sources, such as fast foods and processed snacks, cookies and crackers made with refined vegetable oils, so most people get more omega-6 than omega-3. AIMega delivers a balanced 2:1 ratio of omega-3 and -6 from an organic seed-oil source. Every cell in you and your child’s body requires a healthy balance of these EFAs to function optimally.

Greens

Students of all ages may not eat (or refuse to eat) enough vegetables. BarleyLife Xtra, a naturally sweet choice of greens, and CoCoa LeafGreens, chocolaty greens, can provide this missing link to good health.  These concentrated powders offer an unsurpassed source of plant-based nutrition to supplement the all-too-frequent poor diets of students.

Send your children back to school with an AIM advantage.

Our Miracle Arrived ( Dreams of Parenthood Come True)

Celski Family

Shared by Brittney and David Celski (AIM Preferred Members)

AIM played a big role in making our dreams come true when it came to becoming parents. In terms of conceiving, our journey was one of a kind, yet not the easiest for any couple to deal with. David and I have been married for six years and have been trying to conceive since day one.

I was diagnosed with endometriosis which led to both laparoscopy and appendectomy surgeries. This resulted in two blocked fallopian tubes. Our chances of conceiving naturally dropped significantly. We were beyond heartbroken. We held onto the faith that had helped and guided us throughout the years.

I decided to make health my number-one priority, leading me to become more serious about taking the AIM products. My father-in-law, AIM Director Bob Celski, was my biggest mentor through all this. Royal Emerald Director Opal Wright and Royal Emerald Director Karen Miller also gave me advice, reminding me that the day would come that I would be pregnant with my firstborn. They took the time to coach me and help me get my body back into good health.

After my surgery, I went in full force with the AIM products. I used the Garden Trio, AIMega®, PrepZymes®, Herbal Fiberblend® and Bear Paw Garlic®. For about a year, I worked on making my body into what it should have been. I took cycle and spin classes five days a week. I lost about twenty-two pounds in a six-month period.

On Sept 12, 2014, a miracle had arrived. We were PREGNANT! It was almost beyond belief. Our dreams had finally come true. But the journey wasn’t over yet. I worried that a miscarriage could ruin what it took six years to conceive, so I focused on taking my AIM products on a regimented, everyday basis. During the whole nine months of being pregnant, I never skipped my normal AIM product routine.

Now we are blessed with a healthy baby girl by the name of Quinn Kennedy Celski who was born on May 15, 2015, the first grandchild of Bob and Sue Celski (AIM Directors). We are thankful for AIM and all that it has done to bring our little baby girl into this world healthy and strong. We cannot thank you enough.
