My journey with AIM began in February 2012, when I had been diagnosed with chronic dermatomyositis, a rare autoimmune disease that attacks the muscle and skin, resulting in weak muscles and irritated skin condition on my hands, neck, chest, scalp, face and eyelids.
Strangers would walk up to me and ask if I had shingles. My arm and leg muscles hurt so badly, I could hardly endure driving the car or using the computer keyboard, plus walking was becoming a challenge.
My doctor kept prescribing more medications, and I seemed to be getting worse. At the same time, my mother was at the end stages of Alzheimer’s, my only son was serving as an army lieutenant in the northern mountains of Afghanistan and my health insurance business was a challenge to maintain due to Obamacare.
Then, two things happened that turned my life around. Rosie Reichert, a dear friend who is an AIM Director, called to invite me to a meeting to learn about AIM products. I immediately placed an order. Simultaneously, I was contacted by the doctor’s office. I had been on a waiting list to become a new patient. Many prayers were answered at the same time!
I told my new doctor about the AIM products I had started taking, and she was on board for me to use them. She immediately sent me to physical therapy, changed my diet to gluten-free and reduced my medications. It took about one year to go from weekly injections of methotrexate—a drug used to treat certain types of cancer, psoriasis or rheumatoid arthritis—to none.
My disease is all about managing inflammation. I credit these products with improving my quality of life. I was even able to travel with my son to Europe in the fall of 2016 for two weeks, visiting England, France and Ireland.
