Brain Food

Dementia is major concern for an aging population. There are steps people can take to keep their minds sharp throughout their lifetimes, and, not surprisingly, proper nutrition should be at the top of the list.

In January 2018, a study was published in Neurology that revealed eating leafy greens has a positive impact on cognitive ability. For nearly five years, 960 participants from the age of 58 to 99 years old had their food intake monitored as part of the Memory and Aging Project. None of the people who took part had dementia.

At the end of the study, those who consumed even one daily serving of leafy greens showed a slower decline in cognitive ability than the participants who didn’t. It was determined that particular plant nutrients, such as vitamin K1, folate, lutein, kaempferol and nitrate, found in greens and other foods contributed to this desirable state of mind.

AIM for the Brain and Beyond

The AIM Companies has been promoting the nutritional benefits of greens ever since 1982 with the introduction of BarleyLife, the juice powder of young barley plants. AIM’s founders had immense belief in it’s potential to benefit people’s health and instinctively knew that they were on to something big. The fact that AIM has enthusiastically promoted this green powder for 37 years is the result of having “Nutrition that works.”

Over those years, AIM introduced additional whole-food concentrates, including RediBeets and CoCoa LeafGreens. Along with BarleyLife, these powders are rich in the brain-boosting plant nutrients identified by this recent study.

Having a concentration of plant nutrients in easily assimilated powders is an ideal way to supplement and boost wholesome food intake, not only for brain health but for overall well-being.

In addition to brain-healthy powders, AIM’s targeted nutrition includes GinkgoSense, a natural health product that helps improve memory in an aging population.

“Nutrition that works” for the brain and beyond is something to think about and, most importantly, act upon.
