Weight Loss: Exercise vs. Nutrition

We all know that physical activity and wholesome nutrition are lifestyle choices that greatly contribute to being and staying in good health. Even those who are adverse to exercise know in their heart of hearts that they should be physically active in at least one of the various ways of getting in some regular exercise.

There appears to be a bit of good news for those who view exercise with disgust, but only if they are trying to lose weight. Research indicates that focusing on what you eat has a greater impact on weight loss than exercise. Of course, this goes against what most people instinctively believe about healthy exercise and nutrition going hand in hand with losing weight. But controlled studies tend to be more accurate than feelings.

You can easily see how nutrition ultimately controls the scale of weight loss. If a person eats calorie-dense foods that require enormous amounts of physical activity to burn them off, the chances of losing weight are slim. The balance between calories taken in and calories burned off determines body weight.

Let’s try and shake it off with a chocolate example. A person weighing 205 pounds (93 kilograms) who enjoys a chocolate milkshake made with ice cream would drink in around 465 calories, 180 of which come from fat. To burn off those calories, he or she would have to do one of the following exercises for 1 hour: low-impact aerobics, hopscotch, cleaning gutters, kayaking, skateboarding, unicycling, or brisk walking for 4 miles. And the actual number of calories burned off varies per body type.

Studies have compared the weight-loss results utilizing good nutrition and exercise together and good nutrition or exercise alone. The results show that consuming the right kind of nutrition alone contributed to the greater number of pounds being lost. Exercise on its own did not translate into greater weight loss. In physical activity combined with proper nutrition, weight loss was negligibly different. Nutrition is the number one factor for anyone wanting to lose weight.

At the same time, the benefits of exercise for whole-body health cannot be underestimated and should not be ignored by the physically inactive.

AIM for Nutrition That Works for Weight Loss

With the availability of so many delicious food and drink choices, reducing caloric intake can be a daily challenge. But if weight loss is your goal, you must burn off more calories than those ingested. Do it safely and effectively with wholesome (mostly plant-based and fiber-rich) nutrition and the support of natural health products such as GlucoChrom, Fit ’n Fiber and ProPeas, all three of which make up the AIM Weight Loss Pack that contributes to the daily nutrition that you require while limiting your caloric intake.

Healthily aim for a calorie deficit of about 500 calories per day, which averages as losing 1 pound a week. For women, a healthy starting point is a minimum of 1,200 – 1,500 calories a day, whereas for men, the target is 1,500 – 1,800 calories daily.

Now let’s make another “shake-it-off-calorie” comparison with that chocolate shake and a beverage made with ProPeas. Remember the hour-long effort to burn off 465 “shake” calories? Well, drinking a smoothie made with a serving of ProPeas blended in water ingests only 60 calories, which would not take much active time to burn off. Besides, this plant-based protein is digested slowly and burns off calories in the process. And while burning, your hunger pangs are kept at bay for up to 4 hours.

Putting a serving of Fit ’n Fiber into the ProPeas drink adds only 10 more calories but of fiber that also satiates and reduces appetite. Drinking this mix daily can really help to achieve that healthy calorie deficit, whereas enjoying a shake made with chocolate ice cream creates a calorie surplus that inhibits weight loss.

Taking GlucoChrom introduces trace minerals and herbs that help promote the reduction of body fat and increase of lean muscle mass, but it requires a healthy diet and exercise, which AIM heartily recommends as an avenue in the Healthy Cell Concept. You can lose weight effectively through wholesome nutrition only, but combining it with exercise shapes a healthier, new you along the way.
