Vitamin F

Two of the more interesting nutrients that are essential for every human being are alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) and linoleic acid (LA), plant-based omega-3 and -6. AIMega provides both of these essential fatty acids.

What isn’t all that well-known about these vital forms of omega-3 and -6 is that they were initially called vitamin F. First discovered back in 1923, both substances were determined to be a single vitamin even though their “fatty” nature was confirmed a few years later.

Recognizing that these vitamin F fatty acids were a necessity for good health but unable to be produced by the body, ALA and LA were also determined to be an essential part of a person’s diet. The facts are, these omega-3 and -6 polyunsaturated fats can only come from nutritional intake and people can’t live without them.

Vitamin F Benefits

In the omega-3 class of essential fatty acids (EFAs), alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) is the parent compound. ALA can be converted in the body to the beneficial omega-3 fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), both of which can also be sourced from oily fish, krill oil and algae oil. The parent compound of the omega-6 class of EFAs is linoleic acid (LA), which the body can convert into omega-6 fatty acids called gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) and arachidonic acid (AA).

The physical building blocks of human beings are cells. Omega-3 and -6 are vital components of cell membrane structure and function, so daily intake of ALA and LA supports the body right down to where all growth and development begins.

Cell membranes with sufficient levels of EFAs allows for fluidity, flexibility and permeability. which in turn allows for the optimal intake of nutrients and the regular output of waste. If you think of the body as one giant cell, the same intake and output applies. And AIMega helps you maintain sufficient EFA levels for the overall health of your body.

Beyond cellular benefits, vitamin F is associated with energy production and storage, inflammation regulation, heart health, brain health, blood sugar control, blood pressure balance, hormone production, and more. In other words, essential is an accurate adjective for vitamin F, better known as omega-3 and -6 essential fatty acids.
