Protein After Exercise Can Lead to Serious Weight Loss

There are a lot of reasons to grab a ProPeas protein shake immediately after your workout. Post-workout protein builds muscle mass and can help you recover from all those push-ups, jumping jacks and kettlebell swings. Now, a new study put forth by the European Journal of Nutrition suggests that downing some protein after exercise might help you lose weight, too.

The study examined fifteen male subjects. They did lower-body resistance training prior to using protein. Some drank a placebo drink of similar caloric value. An  hour later, the participants were served a meal. The test subjects who consumed protein ate less food at that meal because their energy intake was lower, they think. The protein-drinkers ate around 10% less when compared to the placebo group (who ate about 9% less). So we may be able to infer that someone who hadn’t had any protein or protein-like drink would eat about 20% more. Eating 20% less is a surefire recipe for weight loss.

Of course, if your protein shake has 300 calories, it may be hard to shed weight, especially if you eat sensibly. AIM’s ProPeas has only sixty calories per serving! So that’s good news. It’s low-calorie, clean, vegan protein that fits into any diet or exercise regimen. It’s versatile enough to help you build muscle and lose weight.
