REPLY – Day & Night Cream’s Wasabi Root Extract

As one of the unique ingredients in the formulation of REPLY Day & Night Cream, wasabi root extract is a botanical most recognized as a popular condiment from Japan. The green paste that spices up sashimi and sushi comes from the root (rhizome) of the wasabi plant (Wasabi japonica).

The effect of consuming wasabi, aka Japanese horseradish, is a rush to the nasal passage. This is caused by the vapors of an oily colorless compound called allyl isothiocyanate, which rises up from the back of the mouth and triggers a nerve response that can take your breath away.

As an extract in REPLY Day & Night Cream, wasabi root delivers antioxidant and inflammation-fighting properties from isothiocyanates that can take your skin irritation and redness away. Some individuals may experience mild temporary reddening of the skin after the cream is applied, but that’s just the result of wasabi helping to stimulate blood circulation.

Wasabi’s isothiocyanates help protect your skin from oxidative stress caused by free radicals that include both reactive oxygen and nitrogen species. Free radicals accelerate skin aging that leads to dry rough skin, pigmentation disorders, dull or uneven skin tone and the appearance of wrinkles.1 Wasabi root extract combats these forms of free radical damage.

During the day when your skin is most under attack from environmental stressors, wasabi root extract is one of REPLY’s protective ingredients. At night, this botanical revitalizes and soothes your skin with its circulatory effect that gives you a healthier and more radiant complexion. There are also studies that suggest wasabi helps stimulate collagen production, which results in firmer and plumper skin.

Four years of research led to the development of the REPLY skincare line, meaning a lot of time, thought and testing went in to selecting ingredients such as wasabi root extract for the Day & Night Cream formulation. Wasabi root extract—a premium ingredient for premium skincare.
