Four things you should understand about antioxidants

To understand the value of antioxidants found in many AIM products, it is vital to grasp that they protect you from the negative effects of oxygen. Breathing sustains life but also produces free radicals that attack stable molecules in your body. This can create a chain of imbalance and the spread of cellular damage from oxidative stress, a major factor in health problems such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and cancer. Antioxidants neutralize free radicals, preventing the harmful effects of oxidative stress.

Your body produces antioxidants but not enough of these inner—endogenous—antioxidants to offset all the free radicals created from normal metabolic function. An external source—exogenous antioxidants—is necessary to prevent cellular damage from oxidative stress. Both internal and external antioxidants are invaluable as “free-radical scavengers” that hunt and tame the bad guys.

Kept in balance, free radicals serve a purpose. For example, your body’s immune cells use free radicals to kill infection-causing bacteria. The key is to have enough antioxidants to help keep free radicals in check. It’s not easy because free radicals are also produced by external factors, including UV rays, pollution, smoking and unhealthy foods. Supplementing wisely with AIM products helps maintain an antioxidant edge, especially as you age.

As the benefits of antioxidants became well-known, some studies concluded that the naturally occurring antioxidants in fruits and vegetables should be the primary source. However, wholesome food can be further supported by taking AIM nutrition that includes whole-food concentrates and Proancynol 2000. Supplementation provides an even wider assortment of antioxidants to help fight destructive free radicals and prevent the ravages of oxidative stress. Your cells are engaged in a daily war; AIM nutrition is a valuable ally in winning that conflict.

Sleep for Your Microbiome

It is entirely possible that stress gets between your sleep patterns and the health of your microbiome. If the bacterial balance in your gut is off, your response to stress can be off as well, keeping you tossing and turning during the night. And lack of sleep can alter the diversity of bacteria and negatively impact the state of your microbiome. It’s a two-way street that may cause a disease-developing situation.

Dysbiosis

Chronic sleep loss can create an abnormal relationship with your microbiome. This disturbance can lead to dysbiosis, a disruption of balance that studies have shown can cause the onset of a variety of health problems, including gastritis, irritable bowel syndrome and colon cancer.

Your microbiome is made up of all the microorganisms that inhabit your body from the inside out. A good majority of them are the good bacteria that live in your colon, where the largest percentage of your immune system is located. And because these healthy microorganisms are key players in the body system that protects you from infection and disease, it makes sense that your health can be compromised when there is an imbalance between the good and the bad bacteria.

Repopulating the good guys by taking probiotics—supplemental friendly bacteria—and nurturing them with prebiotics, the types of fiber that bacteria feed and thrive on, can restore a healthy balance. And a healthy microbiome helps you to handle stress and sleep much better.

AIM for Your Microbiome

You can help maintain the health of the good guys by taking AIM nutrition that targets the well-being of your microbiome: supplemental friendly bacteria, the food that keeps them healthy and calming herbs that find the off-switch of a stressed-out mind.

Each FloraFood capsule of probiotics contains three billion live cells to repopulate your intestinal tract with the good bacteria that maintain a balanced microbiome … and your health.

Each serving of fit ’n fiber provides 8 grams of prebiotics that feed the good bacteria and further increase their numbers.

Each capsule of Composure provides a variety of natural herbs that can help to combat the stress that may be keeping you awake at night and messing with the relationship you have with your microbiome.

March On with BarleyLife

March 20 is a turning point. In the Northern Hemisphere, the date officially marks winter turning into spring. The return of green marks the former winter landscape with new leafy growth and the promise of fresh greens from gardens and farms.

Three days before the first day of spring is green-themed St. Patrick’s Day. March 17 celebrates the culture of Ireland through parades, music, dancing, drinking, etc., and of course, wearing green, which can pretty much be a fashion choice any day of the year.

Wearing green on the inside through AIM nutrition ought to be a healthy choice that happens every day of the year. And spring and St. Patrick’s Day can serve as symbolic reminders to “March” on with lifestyle choices that include BarleyLife.

Going Inner Green

Members have been wearing green from the inside out ever since they began taking AIM products such as BarleyLife. Put some on your tongue and green is seen. It’s primarily chlorophyll that gives barley grass and all other plants their green pigment. The beauty of the chlorophyll in BarleyLife is that the 22.4 grams per serving is in balance with the multitude of natural nutrients that spring to green life as barley grass grows.

AIM harvests young barley plants long before the grass grows to golden grain. These fresh young greens are quickly turned into an easily assimilated juice powder with pretty much all of the fiber removed. That’s because people lack the enzymes required to break down grass fiber. AIM makes the incredible balance of natural nutrients in barley grass available for human consumption.

Consuming the concentrated green nutrition in BarleyLife:

  • Elevates plant-based nutrient intake
  • Cleanses and detoxifies
  • Boosts energy levels
  • Delivers antioxidant protection
  • Helps to reduces inflammation
  • Supports the the body’s acid-alkaline balance

By the way, you don’t need a seasonal change or “The Luck the of Irish” to enjoy the benefits of BarleyLife. You just need AIM.

“If you are ever on a sinking ship, grab your BarleyLife. It will sustain you for some time before you are rescued. It is a whole food and essential for health. You can live on BarleyLife for a while, so be sure and grab it … right after your life jacket.”
Michelle Long, Chairman’s Club Director

It’s All About Nutrition

Looking at Health Awareness Calendars for 2019, it’s interesting to note that March stands out as Nutrition Month in the United States and Canada. It’s especially interesting for The AIM Companies™, given that this Member-driven organization is in the business of sharing “Nutrition that works!” It’s a simple yet significant catch-phrase that reflects the importance of the right kind of nutrition.

Nutritious, whole food works to maintain good health, and AIM’s high-quality, whole-food concentrates and supplements can help to take natural nutrient intake to optimal levels.

The Rise of Digestive Diseases Worldwide

On the poor nutritional side, a North American diet that includes too many processed and fast foods has undoubtably been a major factor that contributes to a variety of health problems.

A 2008 National Institutes of Health report on the burden of digestive diseases provides some convincing evidence as to what can happen when you regularly put the wrong kind of foods into your mouth: gastroesophageal reflux disease, inflammatory bowel disease, digestive cancers, etc. 1 To further illustrate the power of poor nutrition, you only have to look to changes in the Far East.

Several Asian countries whose populations had seemed to be immune are
now experiencing the onset and rise of many of these North American diseases, primarily due to the adoption of poor nutrition over the past 40 years or so. Before the transition toward industrialized societies, most people’s eating habits were healthier until modernization introduced the convenience of processed and fast foods.

A Medical Perspective

A steady diet of poor nutrition shows that a lifestyle move away from wholesome food results in poor health. Of course, there are other factors that can trigger digestive and other diseases, but, over time, dietary factors top the list.

Numerous enlightened minds in the medical profession, including Dr. Dean Ornish, founder and president the Preventive Medicine Research Institute, and Dr. Alona Pulde, co-author of The Whole Foods Diet, emphasize that lifestyle changes, with good nutrition leading the way, can make an incredibly positive difference in your well-being.

The AIM Perspective

The AIM Healthy Cell Concept™ focuses on five factors that promote healthy body cells, a key element in your overall state of health. Nutrition is the first factor, and the AIM intention of providing natural sources of supplemental nutrition is not only to get people’s health back on track but to keep it there.

Nurturing cells with easily absorbed, natural nutrients from AIM supplements can help to optimize healthy food intake, making a huge nutritional difference at the cellular level and supporting body health from the inside out.

Along with nutrition awareness, March is also the month that contains the first day of North American spring, when gardens begin to reappear after a long, cold winter. So let’s take a look at the Garden Trio: three examples of AIM “Nutrition that works!” to make cells healthy.

The Garden Trio

BarleyLife, Just Carrots and RediBeets comprise a nourishing trio of whole-food concentrates that provide an unparalleled combination of plant-based nutrients.

BarleyLife

Barley grass grows with a fibrous root system that acts like a nutritional sponge, absorbing nutrients from the soil and sending them up into sprouting green shoots. Young barley grass is believed to be the most nutritious plant on the planet, but because of its high concentration of fiber, the human digestive system is not “grass-enabled.”

AIM delivers barley’s potent greens as an edible leaf juice powder to give people easy access to its abundance of natural vitamins, minerals, enzymes, antioxidants, chlorophyll and unique plant nutrients. Nutritious, cleansing, detoxifying, alkalizing and inflammation-reducing … that’s BarleyLife.

Just Carrots and RediBeets

Carrots and beets are taproot vegetables that you can think of as units of underground food storage. Their fleshy roots absorb nutrients from the earth and keep them in what are literally protective, fibrous containers.

Like barley grass, AIM taps into the treasure of nutrients in carrots and red beets to create easily assimilated juice powders with minimal fiber.

Carrots are a very good source of beta- carotene, potassium, vitamins B6 and B7 and a variety of antioxidants and plant nutrients that support whole-body health, particularly in regard to the eyes and skin. Just Carrots delivers all the benefits of this orange taproot filled with nutrition.

Red beets store a rich source of polyphenols, betalains, enzymes, vitamins, minerals and vegetable nitrates, providing antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, circulatory and detoxification support that promotes good health and improved liver function. Each canister of RediBeets stores these nutrients and benefits, so tap into them to improve and maintain well-being.

The concentration of nutrients in the Garden Trio will provide a daily awareness of nutrition . . . and that works!

Bacteria, the Brain and Bones

The microbiome is an amazing part of your life . . . literally. Life within life so to speak. All of the microorganisms that make up your microbiota are alive and doing their part to keep you healthy, particularly the friendly bacteria. But like everything good in life, it tends to be all about balance.

When the population of bacteria in your colon is in proper balance, it regulates a number of functions, including nutrient metabolism, gut barrier protection and immunomodulation. In fact, there has been so much research on the microbiome in the past 10 years or so that gut bacteria have been determined to impact pretty much all body systems.

That’s why it’s not entirely surprising that there is likely a bacteria-brain-bone connection. Recent research indicates it’s likely that gut bacteria regulate bone growth and structure by way of certain hormones in the brain. So, try and wrap your mind around the possibility that bacteria work in cahoots with your brain to keep your bones strong.

Bone Basics

Osteoblasts and osteoclasts are cells that regulate bone tissue. ’Blasts build bone while ‘clasts excavate bone tissue for elements, calcium for example, needed by the body in a process known as resorption.

Osteoporosis is a disease that has a constant excavating effect on bone tissue, weakening the matrix and causing susceptibility to fractures, breaks and spine curvature disorders. Research on this debilitating bone disease indicates that probiotics−supplemental friendly bacteria−are beneficial for increasing and strengthening bone matrix.

A 2018 study revealed that “Intestinal microorganisms can disrupt the balance between bone formation and resorption by indirectly stimulating or inhibiting osteoblasts and osteoclasts . . . An increasing number of studies on osteoporosis have suggested the beneficial effects of probiotics in terms of increasing bone mass.” So, supplementing with friendly bacteria can have a positive effect on bones.

Bone Up on AIM

Since friendly bacteria seem to have a role in the health of all body systems, adding more to your gut population with probiotics is a healthy thing to do. FloraFood contributes to increasing the population of healthy gut inhabitants by providing three billion live cells in each capsule. And you get three different species of bacteria as well because variety is the spice of life even for your microbiome.

Just like you, friendly bacteria need to be fed the right kind of nutrition to thrive, and fit ’n fiber gives them food they enjoy feasting on: prebiotic fiber. In other words, prebiotics are made for probiotics. It’s also interesting to note that even though fiber is an essential nutrient your stomach doesn’t digest, your friendly bacteria munch on it to stay healthy, and, in doing so, keep you healthy.

And for the building block of bone, CalciAIM delivers three types of calcium in a powder to make it easier for your body to absorb this bone-building mineral. And CalciAIM also contains the nutrients your body needs to properly absorb calcium, including vitamin D and magnesium.

Back up your microbiome with AIM supplements that contribute to its well-being and to the well-being of your bones.
