Flavonoids Linked to Better Weight Management


If you’re a fan of fruits, vegetables and wholefood juice concentrates made from those things, then I have some good news for you. A new study published in the British Medical Journal has discovered that flavonoids from fruits and vegetables may help reduce weight gain.

Researchers looked at data gathered in the Nurse’s Health Study, the Nurse’s Health Study II and the Health Professionals Follow Up Study and found that people who regularly ate flavonoid-laden fruits and veggies gained 0.16 to 0.23 pounds less than the yearly standard deviation. On average, men gain 2.2 pounds in a four-year period and women gain about 2.9 pounds, so those fractions can really add up over time.

These are the following flavonoids they studied.

Flavanones (eriodictyol, hesperetin, and naringenin), anthocyanins (cyanidin, delphinidin, malvidin, pelargonidin, petunidin, and peonidin), flavan-3-ols (catechin, gallocatechin, epicatechin, epigallocatechin, epicatechin 3-gallate, and epigallocatechin 3-gallate), proanthocyanidins (dimers, trimers, 4-6mers, 7-10mers, and polymers), flavonoid polymers (proanthocyanidins, theaflavins, and thearubigins), flavonols (quercetin, kaempferol, myricetin, and isorhamnetin), and flavones (luteolin and apigenin)—as well as total flavonoids

Anthocyanins, flavonoid polymers and flavonols were the most strongly associated with these benefits. Losing weight is a great confidence booster, but it also improves cardiovascular health and lowers blood pressure. So get more fruits, veggies and flavonoids in your diet with AIM products!

A High-Fiber Diet May Lower Risk of Breast Cancer


There’s been a real bulk of fiber news these past few weeks. It’s been linked to a healthier gut, a lower risk of lung disease, fewer Crohn’s disease flare ups, and it has also been found to help with weight loss for the umpteenth time.

The latest study discovered that women who ate more high-fiber foods during adolescence and young adulthood had a significantly lower risk of breast cancer.  If a large percentage of  fiber came from fruits and veggies, then the better their statistical likelihood.

Harvard researchers used data gathered from the 90,000+ women surveyed for the Nurses’ Health Study II. The healthcare professionals who participated in that large-scale, long-term study were asked to report their diet over a number of years. Other factors like genetics and environment were also figured in.

After sifting through the data, the researchers were able to determine that women who ate more dietary fiber in their young adulthood had a 12%-19% lower rate of breast cancer during that time. Women who consumed more fiber during their adolescence had their overall risk lessened by 16% and a 24% decreased risk of contracting the illness prior to menopause. Each additional 10 g of fiber eaten during adolescence seemed to reduce the risk of breast cancer by 13%.  The study stresses that those who ate the most fruits and veggies saw the greatest benefits.

Researchers attribute these findings to fiber’s ability to diminish high estrogen levels which have been linked with breast cancer. The study was published in the February 2016 issue of Pediatrics.

I am a mother of four children ages 11 (Zani), 9 (Roan), 7 (Carla) and 2 (Jolanda). As a mom, my children and I have struggled a lot with health issues. I went in search of a more natural way of solving our health problems.

I met Royal Emerald Director Madaleine Helm in July 2014. My son Roan was sick all the time. He complained about a stomach ache for quite a few years which X-ray’s showed as constipation. As he got older, he often had bronchitis, terrible headaches and neck pains, later on diarrhea for weeks. I thought that this could be a food allergy.

It’s not such a long time that my family and I have been part of the AIM family, but what a huge difference it has made in our life. It’s unbelievable.

Being an ordained, nondenominational minister, Doug also presides over baptisms, weddings, funerals and other ceremonies.
